After Heavy Rains, Gowanus Canal Floods Over Banks

After the deluge last week-end, the waters of the Gowanus Canal are at the highest level I have ever seen. High tide is certainly at a couple of feet above average. Just yesterday, I was astounded to see that the big pipe next to the Carroll Street bridge is half submerged.
On Sackett Street, the canal spilled over its banks.

And the Whole Foods site is seriously flooded as friend and blogger Ms. Found In Brooklyn reports.

Has anyone near the canal experienced any flooding in their basement?

Lets hope the water recedes before next-week-end's rains.
