Astro Turf Definitely Dead On Smith Street

The fate of Astro Turf at 290 Smith Street has been in limbo for a very long time.  One day, the store's doors closed and never opened for business again, though it was fully stocked with wonderfully kitschy 1950's and 60's decorative items.  Over time,  a coat of dust settled on everything in the store.
Then in October of this year, construction paper was taped to the storefront's windows and, upon inquiry, I was told that Astro Turf would soon re-open after a spruce up.
Well, that does no longer seem to be the case, judging by the For Lease sign that just appeared in its windows.
Don't you want to know what happened to all the cool  merchandise in the store?  I do...

I want to know too! There was a pitcher and glass set I have walked by every day for years that I want to buy!

I always wanted to buy the pink flamingo glass set.
Oh, well. I guess I'll have to live without them.

The wares were appealing but very overpriced. Never bought anything there. Would rather go to Yesterday's News.

The two women who operated Astro Turf did
it as a side thing. One woman had left an art job
or something in Manhattan. They also own the building.
Or one of them does. She painted the trim blue.
I see them from time to time but never during the
shuttering of the store. Yes. Overpriced. I bought a
great enamel kitchen table there for a client.
