Picture Of The Day: Coney Island Parachute Jump

oo
Occasionally, I post photos taken by others. This great shot of Coney Island's Parachute Jump was captured by photographer Max Kelly.
Larger prints are available through his web site here.

Why do you not make it clear Max is your son, just so it is out there? I imagine you wouldn't be posting that photo otherwise.

Why would you have a problem with the fact that I am posting one of my son's photos?
I have done so before.
Yes, Max is my son. feel better now, Anon?

Katia,

Please try not to be so sensative. You've been getting more & more turse over the years.

I know you've posted tons of pictures from other submissions from people you don't even know. However, I do understand Anon's thought - if it weren't a pic your son shot (and it is a very good one) I wonder if this Carroll Gardens Blog would have a "No Reason" mention of Coney Island.

Anon 8:27 am: If you were a regular reader of PMFA, you would most likely have read from time to time that Max is Katia's son and that he is a talented photographer. I see nothing wrong with mentioning it or not mentioning it, and unless you're the blog police, it's none of your business anyway. I'm sure that the photo would have been posted regardless because I think it's quite extraordinary, and Katia is a good photographer herself and has a trained eye. Your demand for full disclosure is snarky and a waste of time.

It's a very good and extremely interesting photograph. Much better than many that are routinely posted on blogs. It is also of a Brooklyn location. Posting for those reason are valid and I'm sure is why you did. I'm glad to have seen it. Thank you.

Was going to reply to Anon, but sitting here thinking about it....Anon doesn't deserve an answer. Max's pictures are wonderful, always great composition and keep on posting these photos, we like looking at them!
Wouldn't anyone post pictures if their child was that talented?

Stunning. (I have no idea how he did that - his vantage point.)

how true anon, sept 26, 1:54. i've noticed that about katia. i also doubt you'll read this--she hardly posts my comments; i guess my strokes are too broad for her.

Just proving you wrong, Landlord.

To Landlord: See? She "proved you wrong" LOL

Katia, I've been following for years and you HAVE gotten more turse - I'm Anon 1:54

There's nothing wrong with posting pics that your son took or even a link to where we can buy his pcitures, it was just your response to the 1st Anon-8:27. It wasn't like you. I think THAT anon WAS a bit snippy with you, but in the old days you would let it roll off your back.
(Also I noticed there wasn't any mention of Sept 11th. I checked the archives, too. Did I miss something?)

The reason I may have sounded a bit terse at the first commenter is that he/she left another pretty vicious remark on another post just moments before. i chose not to publish it.
I try to post most comments, even when they are a bit 'snippy" towards me. I have a pretty thick skin, but some people just seem to want to create bad vibes.
That's all right in general, but I don't need to subject myself and my other readers to such venom.

You are right. I did not post anything on 9/11, mostly because I truly had a hard time even coming up with the right words. I remember that day all too well.

Katia,

I understand - it's hard to put that day into words.

And you're right - if people are going to be truly nasty, they should be ignored.

Also, thanks for the Spell Check on Terse/Turse. When in doubt I Sound it out. LOL

BTW - your son does take nice pics.

Thanks, Anon 2:25.
I love all his photographs, but this one in particular.
