It would appear that Pacifico, the Mexican bar and restaurant in Boerum Hill has closed its doors.
Yesterday, I received an email from Reader Lara, who shared this bit of news about the eatery:
Your readers might be interested to know that long time nabe staple Pacifico is no more.We went last night and were told they closed on Dec 9th for good as they had a dispute with the landlord over the lease (which was up) and the amount the landlord wanted to charge them for the space.
Pacifico, which opened in 2003, was one in a chain of eateries opened by 'pioneer' restaurateurs Brooklyn Alan Harding–Jim Mamary.
Pacifico at 269 Pacific Street was actually more of an outdoor venue on an empty lot that connected to a small storefront on Smith Street
In 2009, it was reported that the restaurant's manager, Richard Kraus, was going to take it over.

Just recently, construction began on the big empty lot right next to Pacifico. That may also have had something to do with the eatery finally calling it quits.

I will miss criticizing their horrible interpretation of mexican food.

I'm surprised there are not as many comments criticizing Pacifico. This post has been up for at least 12 hours...

Where does everyone on this board eat in the neighborhood? It seems like most think every restaurant on Smith and Court from Atlantic to 9th is either a dump, an amusement park, or a crummy pizza joint...

Trumbully, you have a point.
Personally, I still like Cubana Café, Court Street Grocery,
Savoia and Zaytoons.
Just recently started going to Black Mountain Wine house for the wine selection, but also for their food.
It's a small menu, but everything on it is great.

Believe it or not, many of us eat at home.

Claudine's on Smith/Union is very nice. They have fresh Italian food - not just pizza but I have no complaints about their pizza either.
If you haven't tried it yet, it really is worth it for the food. Kathleen

Horrible restaurant, one of the numerous reasons this neighborhood is often the butt of culinary jokes. "Odd" too how there can be many 100s of Mexican restaurant workers around (granted, none of them LIVE here) and not even one joint that offers even a fair approximation of ANY Mexican cuisine...

Sunset Park or Bushwick road trip!

I like Cubana Cafe as well.

My husband and I keep this map updated for visitors or new friends moving to the area: http://bit.ly/VD8EjU

Please feel free to share

That is super. Thanks. I think the map deserves its own post. If you don't mind, can you send me a quick email, Calynn? Would love more info on it.
