How sad.  Guiseppe Caputo, the founder of Caputo's Fine Foods, everyone's favorite Italian gourmet store at 460 Court Street, passed away on March 21st.  A notice has been taped to the rolled down gate and a big  bouquet of flowers has been placed right in front of of the store.
Many may remember Guiseppe.  For years, he was busy in the store making fresh pasta and mozzarella alongside his wife. Later, his two sons joined the business.
A few years ago, Guiseppe lost his wife, and was heartbroken about his loss. I don't think he ever recovered.  I had not seen him in the store recently.
I would like to extend my condolence to his family.  May Guiseppe's memory live on through his family and his wonderful store.

Thank you, Carey, for letting me know.

We live in another state now, but 17 years ago when my son was a baby lived, a few blocks from Caputo's, Mr. Caputo was such a delight to visit with Max in tow. He always had a gentle word for the kids of his customers. What a lovely family and such a loss, they will all be in our prayers.

One of my favorite stores in the neighborhood! Hope they carry on the tradition.

Another long standing community member passes away.

Casa Rosa Closed due to the passing of thier owner, but Red Rose remains open after the passing of thier co-founder, so there's a good chance that Caputo's will carry on.

Either way, best wishes to the family.
