Fundraiser For Young Carroll Gardens Couple Who Lost Wedding Deposit To ReBar

oo
Quite a few young Brooklyn couples found out last week that their wedding deposits to Brooklyn restaurateur Jason Stevens of Rebar has been lost. It is unlikely that they will ever see their money again, as evidence mounds that Stevens, who has disappeared, was under investigation and owed the IRS quite a bit of money.

One of the unlucky couples is from Carroll Gardens. Stephanie Kutch and her fiancĂ© Christian Pascarella visited ReBar a few times in the past few months before deciding to have their special day at the popular Dumbo venue.  Between visits, the fee kept on increasing, so Jason Stevens encouraged the young couple to pay the entire fee in advance "to lock in the price."  Stephanie and Christian handed Jason $17,500 of their hard earned money in March 2014.

I have known Stephanie Kutch since she was a little girl.  She was my daughter's classmate at PS 58 and it has been a pleasure seeing grow into a lovely young lady. You may have met her at the Mazzone's Paint Store at 211 Smith Street, where she is the manager.
Matt Mazzone was kind enough to set up an online fundraiser for the young couple.  Perhaps you would like to make a donation so that Stephanie and Christian can still have their wedding in October 2015?

Stephanie is so patient and kind. She was an immense help for at Mazzone's when I needed to re-paint my entire apt. For me, it was a daunting task but Stephanie helped a great deal in choosing paints and sheens and was a reassuring voice of reason. I wish them the best of luck and hope they can re-coup their losses.

I feel so bad for the couples impacted by this. I am newly married, only six months, so I understand the financial pressure related to planning a wedding. So for this to happen is devastating to the couples. This should be such a happy joyful time in their lives and this idiot is hindering that for them. I pray for justice and for the couples.
