Ravioli Wine Bar has taking the space occupied by the former Italian restaurant Savoia at 277 Smith Street.  Big red posters announcing the opening have been posted in the windows along with mentions of 'grandmas at work' and advise to 'starve yourself' in preparation for its arrival later this summer.
According to its web site, the eatery will be serving raviolis from Papa Pasquale, who has produced pasta in Brooklyn for the past 60 years.
According to its owners:  "We’re working diligently to open our first Ravioli Wine Bar and become part of the culinary fabric that has come to define Smith Street."

Think a ravioli wine bar will do well on Smith Street?

slapping "Italian grandmas at work" on your launch sign in a neighborhood with a history of authentic red sauce restaurants comes off as tone deaf.

Looks generic and awful. This area is going downhill FAST.

I guess the real Italians, the owners of Savoia were too real. Patrons of Smith, Street eateries need a fake, cartoon version of anything. Fake Havana. Fake France. Fake Italy. I agree with the first comment: tone deaf and insulting. And this joint won't even be making the ravioli. The new crowd in Carroll Gardens may find it interesting, reminding them of the malls they left in the burbs. With this and the paint by number cafe I just don't get it. The dumbing down of America.

I give it six months, tops. I'm surprised Pazzi Pasta (or whatever it's called) is still open, though, so maybe I'm wrong. I hope not. This place looks awful!

Painting With A Twist is one of the fastest growing franchises around right now. Its Brooklyn Strategist for (drunk) adults. It will do just fine.

Better than a nail salon!

Perhaps the commenters should find out who is behind this before lambasting.

What a shame. Smith Street, "The Little Street That Could" is now West 4th St in the Village.

Papa Pasquale raviolis are AMAZING. They sell them at the Pork store on Court. I don't know much about this new place, but if its from them its not some cheesy chain, they are a small BK based company. Maybe reserve your hate until after you try it, jeez people!

This place is great. The hate is way off base.

The person who owns this restaurant is full Sicilian and lives in the neighborhood. The raviloi is made by a second italian owner in Brooklyn. The cooks are real grandmothers from Italy, that change frequently to give you a taste from different regions of Italy. How ignorant of some of the earlier comments.
