Oh, Toulouse! If I were not living in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, I could imagine making this city my home.
Not only is Toulouse beautiful, it is ideality situated close to the Mediterranean, not far from the Atlantic ocean, at the footsteps of the Pyrénées mountains and has one of the oldest universities in Europe, which means that it is a young vibrant place.
It has charming squares, wonderful stores, and best of all, most of the old city is closed to traffic, so that pedestrians can wander through quaint shopping streets and enjoy a drink or meal at one of the many sidewalk cafés and restaurants without listening to traffic.
Toulouse is sometimes referred to as "La Rose" because of its distinctive brick architecture. Some of the oldest brick structures, churches and larger residential homes, date back to the middle ages.  The use of brick for construction became more widespread during the Renaissance, when, after a number of fires, the city imposed a ban on wood structures.

Toulouse is France's 4th largest city. It certainly is one of its most charming.

Glad you're having a great time. Meanwhile, back in Brooklyn...

Speaking of La Rose: The Red Rose has lost it's "A" Rating again. Anyone know why?
It's Grade Pending again. This happens every 9 months to a year.
The food is usually good at Red Rose, but I've gotten ill there a couple of times.

Anyone know?

It looks like you're having a wonderful trip, Katia. I especially like the beautiful carousel. Not as lovely as Jane's though! I'm now off to pour over your mountain pictures.... not jealous one bit.

Ellie, Jan'e Carousel is pretty magnificent, especially its setting. There is one in the center of town in Lyon here in France as well.
Love the fact that they are so well taken care of.
