Memorial Day is a day of remembrance.
"It is a day to honor our nation’s war dead. It is a day to honor our veterans. It is a day to pray for the safe return of all those presently serving in our military. Join us as we honor their sacrifice
and as we place a wreath at the war memorial monument."

Over my many years enjoying the park, I do have one comment about it: Parents- please honor our Vets by not letting your little tykes use chalk/deface the memorial. And dog owners- please don't let your pooch pee on it.

Maybe the monument should be enclosed within an appropriate wrought iron fence. It shouldn't have to be, but people are so inconsiderate and/ or oblivious. It's just baffling.
