I laughed out loud at the author's reminiscences about the halcyon days. I am somewhat younger than Mr. Lantz but I dislike change too, especially if it is baby-centric -- or should that be parent-gloating:? I mean, big deal...you had offspring. So do roaches. Get over yourself.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36892255.post-75928039589635027242014-06-20T08:32:01.029-04:002014-06-20T08:32:01.029-04:00I don't understand how you can call this a nei... I don't understand how you can call this a neighborhood? I grew up in red hook/ Carroll Gardens and that's when it was a neighbor hood emphasis on neighbor. Back then in the 1970s and early 1980s you couldn't walk ten feet without saying hello to ten neighbors YOU KNEW EVERYONE !!!!! Today I would call Carrol Gardens a smaller version of Manhattan where you just pass by everyone on your way home or to the store without even noticing the person walking by you. NEIGHBORHOOD I THINK NOT!!!!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36892255.post-72916068132140347642013-05-15T15:11:01.209-04:002013-05-15T15:11:01.209-04:00Yes, of course, the only people who should be able...Yes, of course, the only people who should be able to live your neighborhood are older, childless people with no money. They also don't seem to correct their also rude children. It wasn't always like that here. Its the newest influx of moms. It would actually make a funny reality series. You could call it Nasty MomsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36892255.post-57030301632579316782013-05-08T19:06:59.784-04:002013-05-08T19:06:59.784-04:00Plenty of people from my Parish here raised their ...Plenty of people from my Parish here raised their children here and themselves grew up here. The essay makes no sense - I'm guessing his memory is selective to support his attempt at whimsy. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
