A lot of those stores are not that big so there isn't a whole lot of chains that can move in there. Secondly, there's a lot of stuff that's opened over in Downtown Brooklyn at Fulton St mall. I live in park Slope where so many small business have closed recently on 7th avenue because of out of control rents. They are not getting filled as fast as the used to. The latest is a much loved sports shop that has been around forever. They just can't survive these outrageous rents. I don't know what landlords are thinking when they look around as see so many empty storefronts. It is heartbreaking.
