Picture Of The Day: Under The Gowanus Canal's Surface

Barely visible under the toxic sludge of the Gowanus Canal's bottom,

a child's bicycle...

The juxtaposition of childhood and such toxicity was oddly unsettling.

    You're making queasy, Katia. Do you think it's safe for you to be so close to such toxicity? It might be safer to take pics of old school carroll gardeners.

    Hi Jill,
    Thank goodness I have a good zoom lense on my camera. But I agree, it is probably safer capturing beautiful brownstones in C.G.
