That's what was missing in this neighborhood:
Carroll Gardens Gnomes?
Do you love or hate
Little garden gnomes?
Don't you find that
They are delightfully kitschy?
These reside at P.S.58.
In the school's garden on 2nd Place.

I love garden gnomes. Not the super-cheesy ones, but the genuine looking ones. They remind me of the Mainzelmannchen I'd see when visiting my Grandmother. I just wish I had a garden, so I could hide some gnomes in it.
Mainzelmännchen! Oh, I have not thought about them for, like, forever. I LOVED them when I was a child, too.
Maybe you can add to the P.S. 58 gnome set...The garden is pretty big. They could use some more Gartenzwerge (in German)
When I was in the 2nd or 3rd grade (in the 80's) a special garden was planted in honor of a student that was sick and passed away. She was younger than me and I don't remember how she dies but I always wondered if the future administrations at the school kept up her garden.
The little garden is still there. A cherry tree was planted in her memory and it is one of the most beautiful trees when it is in bloom.
When my kids went to PS58, there was a little sign commemorating the student. that was about 6 years ago.
There is a new principal there, but I could imagine that some of the teachers still remember..
I like them, but my husband is of a different opinion. I think the more popular ones in Italy are Snow White and the 7 Dwarves. They are just so darn cute!
I like gnomes...but I prefer the more novelty ones like these collegiate garden gnomes. I got a University Of Florida gnome for my office.
