What Happened? Iron Gate Properties Gone And Renting Out Own Newly Vacated Space

oo

414-416 Smith Street

Am I the last person to have noticed that Iron Gate Properties at 414- 416 Court Street has vacated its offices When did that happen? The same real estate agency is now renting out the space.

Iron Gate had moved to this lovely storefront about two or three years ago. They had previously been at 269 Court Street, at the corner of Carroll Street, in the space that is now occupied by Giggles and Greens, a children's boutique. The strange thing is when I called the number to find out what had happened, a recording indicated the address of Iron Gate as being 369 Court. So does their web site. What's up with that. I am confused.
Did they move back?

I hope a nice tenant can be found for 414-416. This storefront is one of the nicest in the neighborhood. For those Carroll Gardens old timers, you surely remember Francis, the lovely older lady who operated the fruit and vegetable store there with her two equally nice sons.
They had the best produce and shopping there always felt like stepping back into time.
When Francis dies just a few years ago, her sons closed the doors and never re-opened.They seemed to have kept the store going solely for their mother.

They have moved out of the neighborhood. They hadn't changed the address on their website after they moved to 414 Court.

Hi there,
Thanks for filling us in. Do you have any idea were they moved to?
Do they still do Carroll gardens real estate?

I heard they moved to Long Island City. I don't think they'll be doing much business in Carroll Gardens anymore.

Indeed! That's a bit further than I thought. Thanks for letting us know.

Hope a new tenant can be found quickly for the space. Before Iron Gate moved in, it stood empty for a very long time.
Don't ask me why, but a few days ago, I suddenly remembered that Francis and her produce store only occupied half of that space. She was on the right side, and for a while, there was a little coffee shop on the left.
Anyone remember that?

i forget the name but it was Marty, a neighborhood handyman who had a fix it shop on Court Street bet. 2nd and 3rd, where the nail parlor is now. he had a really nice coffee store, very busy, he retired, someone bought it, raised the prices, closed. he was one of the nicest guys in the neighborhood, other than that, nothing else to report

Well, Anon, you have a better memory than I have. I would not have remembered his name.
I used to stop there sometimes with my shopping cart after going to Key Food (which of course is now CVS)
