From 1 To 10, How Would You Rate Bill de Blasio's Job Performance
As Our Councilman In The Last 8 Years?

And most importantly, based on that performance,
does he deserve to become our next Public Advocate?

I am very interested, dear Readers. The run-off vote for Advocate is tomorrow. I though it would be interesting to learn what people in his district really thought about his job performance.

His performace ranks somewhere between 3-4.

Essentially, sub par.

He scores this much because he is visible, but has been far short of meeting the needs of his community. As well, has not been responsive to his constituency.

I thought the role of Public Advocate's office is to be the pulpit for the city's residents. Mr. de blasio has shown he can't hold that mantle.

Bill De Blasio? Who is he?
Hardly saw him in 8 years.

I would give him a 3 because:
He almost never showed up at meetings.
And when he did, he came late and left early.

Disgraceful.

Given the amount of "big politics" support that de Blasio has, one might suspect that his "as much talk as necessary, and as little action as possible" approach results from all he owes to the powerful and connected. That same lack of clarity and action has not served community well, and would only get worse in a city-wide position.

Rated a 2 out of 10!

Overall, I would give him a 4, and I am being generous.

On Atlantic Yards, I would give him a 1,
On opposing Superfunding for the Gowanus Canal, he deserves a 0

I think everyone is really being very gererous to Mr. DeBlasio. Does he really deserve a 3 or a 4? Knowing of Bill since he was on the school board, what has he really done for us the residents? Of course what are our options for City Advocate. It is a sorry state of affairs

I absolutely agree with the above posters. A 3 is far to generous. I give him a 1/2 point.
Should he be elected to the Public Advocate's office he will probably be too busy working on the campaigns of others and most likely his own campaign for mayor to be effective. He will only confront the mayor after he has taken the pulse of New Yorkers and if it is politically advantageous for him. Had Betsy Gottbaum not announced that she would not seek another term I have no doubt that de Blasio would have supported the mayor's overturning of term limits.

Mark Green is far and above more qualified than de Blasio. I am reminding people that Mark Green through Air America brought us Rachel Maddow.

I refuse to rate Bill de Blasio's job performance as a councilman. He has
never, in my opinion, fairly represented any of the Brooklyn communities.
He is not, in my opinion, a fair and honest Public Advocate. I would support
anyone but Bill de Blasio.
Regards,
Linda

Hey, come on! He's gotten his name on some garbage cans...

Actually, I respect him for voting against the term limits gift to the Emperor Billionaire, but other than that he's the perfect Clintonian: moderate to conservative, extremely cautious and unwilling to go out on a limb, no threat in the least to powers that be.

He certainly did not represent CG in a positive way during his eight years. He sold out to development interests and screwed the residents.

I'd give him a 1 at best and his office a zero.

I agree with the post by Linda. This man has failed to represent the people of this City Council District on every issues we reached out to him for help on. His absence on supporting this district on the Superfund issue summarizes his years in city council--never there for the people!
So what is the best grade for someone who is never there? A straight out Failing Grade! And he feels has what it takes to make a Public Advocate?

For the Councilman's allegiance to his constituents in Carroll Gardens regarding development issues and the Gowanus Canal I would give him a zero. For his allegiance to Brooklynites re: Atlantic Yards: another zero.
For his charm and pretenses I would give him a 4. For his ability to exploit an issue and get some great PR for himself out of it, I would give him a 9. For follow up on that same issue I would give him a "2". For his overall level of personal political ambition I would give him a "10".
