THE KID

We begin the fall season of Big Movies for Little Kids with Charlie Chaplin’s masterpiece, THE KID. The opening title reads: "A comedy with a smile--and perhaps a tear." The little Tramp finds a baby (Jackie Coogan) and makes a home in a seamless blend of slapstick and sentiment. (USA; 1921; not rated; black and white; silent with intertitles; 68 minutes.)

SPIRITED AWAY

From Hayao Miyazaki, one of the most celebrated filmmakers in the history of animation, comes an astonishing epic adventure. A young girl, Chihiro, trapped in a strange new world of spirits, must call upon the courage she never knew she had to free herself and return her family to the outside world. (Japan; 2003; Rated PG; color animation; 125 minutes)
