Smith Street's most popular wine and liquor store "Smith and Vine" just announced that it will be relocating from 268 Smith Street, its home for more than ten years, to the storefront at 317 Smith Street, just two blocks South and mere steps from the F train station at President Street.

The reason for the move may be the fact that the building currently housing the store is on the market for $3,350,000, which certainly means uncertainty for tenants and, most likely, higher rents in the future.

Smith and Vine's new location on Smith Street was, until recently, a tanning salon, and for many years before, the home of Armando's Tailor and Dry Cleaning.

Hopefully, this well curated neighborhood business will continue to thrive in Carroll Gardens for a very long time.

This is actually great news. It'll be right there when you get off the subway!

Ha, that could be dangerous!

Didn't there used to be another liquor store on that block?

That store is a gem. I hope they do well in their new location.

Anon 11:36, yes, there was a wine store on that block, closer to Union Street. It was called Vintage Cellars and was operated by Red Rose owner's wife. The address was 311 Smith Street and is now occupied by Claudine's

Red rose wife ran vintage cellars? I never saw her. Only a strange guy who ran it. It wasn't very curated. And had lousy lighting. Let's hope smith and vine keeps their vibe when they move. Will the people have to move if the building sells?
