    Gosh, are there any left? I am on the west side of the canal. Mary's, on the corner of President and 3rd Ave was a great mom and pop store - now gone. There was always a long line at lunchtime, a lot of workers went there for sandwiches. They made a great tuna fish sandwich. And then there were specials, like peppers and eggs. I remember Mary and her daughter Caroline. Mary was getting up there - I wonder what happened to them. Their store gave so much character and flavor to the neighborhood. You could always go there if you needed something in a pinch.
