Tropic, a new juice bar/deli has opened its doors at 205 Court Street just recently.  Aside from smoothies, protein drinks, and aloe drinks.  Tropic also offers wraps, sandwiches and granola bars.
Though they are a few seats in the back, the place is more of a take-out place.
This location was the home of Wyckoff Corner Pharmacy for many years. (The pharmacy has relocated  across the street to 203 Court Street)

Have you stopped in yet?  What do you think?

  1. I went there yesterday, to get a wrap for lunch. It was a regular wrap not bad at all, but nothing different than your regular deli.

  2. Why can this exist in all its garishness but 16 Handles had to tone down the bright obnoxiousness? And who puts a juice bar across the street from another juice bar? Its so annoying. I wish it was just a simple neighborhood deli.

  3. Actually, I think the bright sign is pretty obnoxious myself, especially since its not only one sign, but the bright lights inside the store as well.

  4. I went the other day and had a juice that was pretty good. What I don't get is that it's EXACTLY across the street from Nectar, selling...juices, smoothies, sandwiches, exact same stuff! I've always liked Nectar so I'll continue going there, this whole thing is pretty much on par with the new nails place opening 2 doors down from Pretty Nails

  5. I thought exactly what Anonymous (2:56pm) did. How come 16 Handles had to change their sign, but this one somehow escaped critique?

  6. It's hideous . I agree. Does anyone know the owner so we can reach out?

  7. Stopped in with my wife and we got a smoothie. It was good, but she is also a fan of Nectar. It would have made more sense to put this new Juice Bar on Smith Street since Mandy's closed and there are no smootie/juice options on Smith anymore.

  8. Nectar may use actual organic products. And yes the sign is awful but it's not as huge as 16 handles was. Look, let them be. Nectar is far better and homey. Nice workers and cute little place. I'll never go to this Tropic Place. considering rents it must have taken a bundle to open. So let the Bay Ridge-ing of the neighborhood begin.

  9. Erm, there's nothing in Bay Ridge that looks like this monstrosity.

  10. As much I love Carroll Gardens streets. Bay Ridge has nicer commercial strips. I don't understand the anti-Bay Ridge comment. Bay Ridge was nice even back when Carroll Gardens was not. Let's be nice...

  11. 7:19AM is just resentful that Bay Ridge has a beautiful waterfront on 2 sides, while Carroll Gardens is stuck with the stinking canal.... I still like CG.

  12. Since everyone is asking... Nectar and Tropic Juice Bar and Grill are completely different.
Nectar uses bottled and pre-packed juices to make smoothies only.
Tropic Juice Bar uses fresh fruit to make both juices and smoothies. It's more like the amazing little fresh fruit juice bars that are all over Rio if you've there.
Tropic also has a deli in the back that's open anytime the place is open.

  13. The comments on what the place looks like are hilarious! The place is a juice bar called Tropic. What did you expect that it should look like, exactly? Should it not be bright, light and citrus-y. Marketing matches the product. Perfect! I think it's great and I love that we have a new super healthy option in the area.

  14. Its pretty obvious "Edward P." is the owner or something of Tropic. First off, dont talk about nectar like you even go there. For a person who isnt a fan of nectar sure does seem like you go there alot considering the fact that you "know" what merchandise they have. Jeff the owner is an awsome guy. He ownes bocalupo, strong place, and nectar. Ive been going to nectar for five years, i even assited them when they were short staffed. They cook and use all fresh ingredients. Who ever u are "Edward. P." dont try to do a low blow like that again to another business. Accept the fact that ur an evil person opening up another juice bar from the lovely neighborhood juicebar knlwn as nectar, and cant take the heat from the residents of cobble hill that think like wise.

  15. Edward P. Cobble hill is a landmark area, where there are lovely old buildings, wonderful history, and great people. Than you bring this ugly color onto court st, making it look sooo ugly, cheap, and desperate. You must understand that your sign is uglyyyyy. Nobody likes it. And i advise you to change it before more and more negativaty reaches your way.

  16. Ok so how old are you guys?? Seriously, where is the maturity?? Nectar and tropic are not the same they have their minor similarities but completely different. Second who cares if they are across the street from each other if you're a loyal nectar customer more power to you keep going there. If you want to try something new go to tropic and as for the whole light thing the only one being obnoxious are you people. It brightens up the street and it goes with the store so what's the problem? Poor Edward p. You guys are attacking the poor man for his opinion grow up guys and Start acting your age not like a bunch of spoiled little kids with this pointless arguing and bashing of innocent people. Everyone,is entitled to their opinion whether you agree with it or not!

  17. The signage is unusually garish and out of step with the rest of the neighborhood. I don't care if he's selling fire and lightning - he should tone it down a little.

  18. I wanted to love Nectar, but the first time I tried it, my salad greens were slimy...and the second time I tried it, my juice did not taste fresh. Tropic's aesthetic makes me cringe, but I will definitely give them a chance. If nothing else, maybe it'll make Nectar up their game!
