The streets of Carroll Gardens continue to be a popular backdrop for Film and Tv . On Thursday, October 16th, NBC's "The Blacklist" will be filming a scene on 4th Place between Court Street and Clinton Street.
It will be interesting to see what business ex-government agent Raymond "Red" Reddington has in our neighborhood.
In any case, don't forget to move your car by Wednesday 6 PM if you are parked on that block.
There is to much film production going on in our area. We need to call 311 and complain.
ReplyDeleteJust this past Sept 15 we had 3 productions in Carroll Gardens. Madam Secretary on Court from First to Luquer St., The Intern on Henry and Woodhull and then Broad City on Smith and Carroll- all taking up numerous blocks. Its time we take back our Neighborhood from productions just like the West Village did before they came upon Carroll Gardens.
This is the best example of a first world non-problem that I've ever heard.
ReplyDeleteBring on the filming! Jobs for New Yorkers, and lovely programs for New Yorkers -- a little parking and walking inconvenience is worth it. p.s. James Spader can block traffic in MY neighborhood anytime... :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Commenter #1. The trucks and people are loud, rude and disruptive to our little neighborhood. Can't they find somewhere else to shoot?
ReplyDeleteI'm all for filming in NYC-I have many friends who work in the industry but last night was ridiculous. At 5pm I watched signs being posted on 4th Pl btwn Court and Smith that cars had to be moved by 6am THE NEXT MORNING!!
ReplyDeleteAt least 10 residents of the block were talking to the crew telling them that this was not allowed and they could care less. Several people called the number for the locations person and he never answered, only what sounded like an intern. Finally at about 9pm, they removed the signs and the cones and said no one would be towed in the morning but all this was agita-inducing. I know there are rules for when the "no parking" signs need to be posted, do you know exactly what the rule states?
I would be interested to find out as well. Recently, no parking signs went up the night before a shoot that happened the next evening.
ReplyDeleteThe crew came from another location, had obviously gotten delayed and ended up only filming on my street for about an hour.
I agree with Anonymous at 7:21am. I came home last night at 6:30pm (and live on 4th b/w Court and Smith) to find the crew putting out cones and still posting signs to move my car effective at 6PM!!! I called 311 to complain and they said to take it up with the city's movie and permit division.
ReplyDeleteI am all for filming in the neighborhood but not giving any notice is not only extremely frustrating but certainty illegal.
What makes me even more upset is I complied with the signs only to wake up this morning and find the cones had been removed and everyone still in their previous parking spots.
To add to my previous comment you can call 212-489-6710 to file a complaint with a permit coordinator.
