Reader Joao, who recently walked past the site, reports that 181 President Street is now being marketed and has its own logo as well as a web site http://181President Street.com. Joao reports: "If you enter your email address on the website, you get subscribed to an email list from Halstead Property Development Marketing."
A banner hanging from the new building urges potential buyers to "discover the unrivaled luxury of the most sophisticated new construction townhouse in Carroll Gardens."
No mention of the price tag for this new home. Care to venture a guess?
Yes, I care to guess: Obscenely expensive. How's that for a guess? ;-)
ReplyDeleteThat would have been my guess, too, Joao.
ReplyDelete$10 - $15 million, maybe more. Site was purchased for $1.4MM just 3 years ago.
ReplyDeleteReally expensive but seriously fugly facade
ReplyDeleteThe brick work is nice. And it could be uglier. It looks like an old industrial building with those windows. Anything is better than a glass bomb or quasi terraced fakester. Single family is what kills me. I don't need to guess we'll know soon enough.
ReplyDeleteI think the façade is lovely- brickwork is a beautiful nod to the past- looks reclaimed. I went by the other day and noticed it for the first time. I'm actually totally shocked it was built as a one family. Seems like a vulgar and careless use of habitable space, even if it is luxury. However- I really like the architecture.
ReplyDeleteLooks commercial. I think it's one family because property isn't deep. Bklyn is dead.
ReplyDelete4:18 NY in general is dead - too expensive. for the rich. I heard yesterday that there is a back log of people trying to get into the projects. Even affordable housing isn't affordable.
ReplyDeleteYou know you've made it when your home has its own logo.
ReplyDeleteThat's very true and funny.
ReplyDeleteAt least it has two separate garage doors so nobody can park in front of your new house.
