The Carroll Gardens Greenmarket will be closed on Sunday, March 27th for Easter.  The compost and textile collection are also cancelled for this Sunday.
However, the Greenmarket is getting ready for spring and Caroline, the market's coordinator, would like to announce some updates.
From Caroline:
The Carroll Gardens Greenmarket was blessed with a relatively mild winter this year! Each Sunday, market manager Dorothy Ferrante has been cooking up warm and tasty cooking demos for our Winter Warrior shoppers. Still, we’re looking forward to signs of spring already popping up: farmers come to market with stories of lambs, calves, and kids being born and fields almost dry enough for the first plantings, while colorful tulips and potted plants brighten their stands. This coming Sunday the market will be closed for the Easter holiday, but we look forward to welcoming back Lani’s Farm the following Sunday, April 3rd. See you at the market!

Sunday, April 3rd 10:30am to 1pm
Opening Day at the Greenmarket
Let’s play ball! Kick off spring and the beginning of baseball season with your favorite farmers. Visit the Market Information tent to sample Haywoods Fresh hot dogs from the grill.

Caroline also sent along the photos below of some naturally colorful eggs that don't need Easter dye to look pretty and of a newborn calf on Haywood’s Fresh’s farm.

  1. There are some markings on the sidewalk in front of the school that appear to be future tree placement. With the sidewalk narrowing for these trees (whenever that happens), how will the market adapt? It's already tight passage with the stands and the strollers etc.

  2. Those tree markings appeared a few months back and I alerted the Greenmarket people since the sidewalk trees at this particular spot would definitely hinder the market. The trees have been cancelled in the meantime. If you look at the markings
in indicates that no trees should be planted there.
