South Austin Central Fire Station on a balmy night in Texas
#notinbrooklynanymore
Dear Readers,
This week, I am exploring Austin, Texas. Of course, I have my camera with me, so I will post photos of my impressions. Will be back in Brooklyn soon.
Cheers, Katia
PS: do you have any recommendations?
Curra's - avocado margaritas, Mexican food
ReplyDeleteThe White Horse - live music, drinks
See the bats under/at Congress Ave. bridge
Salt Lick BBQ is worth the 25 min drive outside of the city. Franklins is most popular but super long lines. Try and see the bats under the bridge. Graffiti Park at Castle Hills is a photographers dream. Rainey Street is one of the coolest streets in the country. Great live music and bars. And see if anyone is playing at the Hotel Van Zandt nearby. The springs too if its warm!
ReplyDeleteTry Olamaie - I ate there last May and loved it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, guys. Sounds awesome. Will try to check these places out while I am here.
ReplyDeleteGet out to Enchanted Rock if you can. Beautiful spot, especially around sunset. Pics don't begin to do it justice. Combine with stop at the LBJ Ranch, as they're in the same direction.
ReplyDeleteStarting to get the sense that i should stay here longer.
ReplyDeleteI'm from Austin, myself. Obviously, hit up Chuy's when you can. And if you can't get to Franklin's (as was said, long lines) you might try Freedman's. Very similar BBQ without the ridiculous lines. Parking can be an issue, but they DO share a lot with the bar next door, which isn't super obvious.
ReplyDeleteZilker Park is a nice place to visit, as well. If you like big parks, anyway. It's also right by the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, which is always a nice visit. At least, if things have started to bloom.
Love everyone's advice. Thanks, guys!
