Dear Readers,
I am still in Austin, Texas with my family and have been enjoying the sun, the food and the music in this fun city. So far, we have gotten B.B.Q. at Franklin, visited the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, kayaked in Zilker Park, enjoyed Chicken Shit Bingo at Longhorn Saloon, and had fantastic cocktails at Black Heart. (Favorite meal, besides the many tacos I have consumed in the past few days, has been at Elizabeth Street CafĂ©.)
We managed to get out of the city to visit Hamilton Pool, Luckenbach, Fredricksburg, and drive along the Willow City loop, which was pretty spectacular.
Of course, I have been photographing along the way. Above are just a few of the images I took.
We are heading back to New York City tomorrow, so be ready for more news of Carroll Gardens later this week.
Cheers, Katia

  1. Should have warned you. Once you've had TexMex nothing anywhere else will ever come close. Your taste buds are now permanently spoiled.

  2. That said... If you haven't eaten at Lobo (up Court St, north of the Cobble Hill movie theater), give it a go. As someone who grew up in Austin, it's very definitely a place for transplants. Plus, it's right in the neighborhood.

  3. It's actually the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, named after the First Lady

  4. Kathy, of course. Thanks for the correction. Will change the post right now.

We (my wife and I) tried Lobo once... once. Yikes!!!! We thought the food was about as far from TexMex as Brooklyn is from Austin, and the place felt dirty. But, whatever lifts your kilt.
