Councilman Brad Lander and event organizer Marion Fiore
Let's hear a round of applause for Carroll Gardeners! Ten cats and about nine dogs found their forever home at yesterday's 'Bark Avenue Adopt-A-Thon' in Carroll Park. The yearly event was as fun as ever, with Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C) and other organizations bringing lots of wonderful available animals to the park. This year’s theme for the Bark-a-thon was 'Vintage Travel!" First class canine passengers walked down a red-carpet to 'em-bark' on “Bark Airways.” Their final destination? A loving home.
A huge thank you to Douglass Elliman for sponsoring and to Marion Fiore for organizing the event. Her dedication and hard work is very much appreciated.
Marion provided us with a list of all the dogs that got adopted. (Sorry, the cats did not have names.)
Sugar Mutts:
Bandit- a spunky chihuahua
Chewy - a blue and brown eyed shitzu
Morgan - a pit puppy with 3 legs
Cinnamon - an adorable cinnamon concoction
Second Chance Rescue NYC:
Ilian & Myio - 2 Bahamas dudes colloquially known as a "pot cakes"
Alice - an exotic Egyptian gal - part Bengal and Wolfhound mix
Baby- a basenji babe
Animal Care And Control of NYC:
Charlie - an adorable Maltese/West Highland mix
Lala - a rottie mix pup
If you are planning on adding a pet to your home, please consider adopting through one of the great organizations that was represented yesterday: Animal Care And Control of NYC, Second Chance Rescue NYC, Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue and Sugar Mutts Rescue.
I'm curious to know, do they do a home inspection after the babies have been adopted?
