When partners Elizabeth Lind and Anna Man decided to open their boutique Charlie-n-Diamond at 105 Atlantic Avenue, they knew that they wanted to highlight the work of Brooklyn artisans and designers. So when the doors opened to their cute new store last week, the shelves and racks displayed carefully selected clothing, bags, jewelry and various gift items, all made locally.

And sprinkled throughout the store are boxes of Pocky, the chocolate covered, biscuit-like snack sticks. Not exactly a local item, but as Elizabeth, a good friend of mine, pointed out, the company is very environmentally friendly and Charlie-n-Diamond is the only store in the neighborhood that carries the super-sized box.

So, dear Reader, make sure to stop by and shop locally. You'll be sure to find great holiday gift items here.
