Heights Chateau on Atlantic Avenue in conjunction with the Muriel Guepin Gallery at 47 Bergen Street is organized a benefit wine tasting and art auction preview in conjunction with the Muriel Guepin Gallery on October 25th, from 6 to 9 PM.  The event will take place at the gallery at 47 Bergen, October 25-27th. The tasting will feature over 30 wines from around the world with cheese and charcuterie. The cost per person is $50.
The benefit continues the next night with a silent auction.
As Alex of Heights Chateau explained to me,  all proceeds go to benefit artist and teacher Jaclyn Tally and her husband Jason who has a rare form of Leukemia. "Jason is currently at Bellevue hospital, and being a full-time artist he has limited financial resources and no health insurance."

The Muriel Guépin Gallery has asked local artists to donate works for this benefit and each piece will be starting at auction as low as 1/3 of the normal retail price. This is a great way of helping out a good cause and collecting art at a great price. Bidding will start at the VIP Preview- Wine Tasting event and will close at the end of the Silent Auction, which is on Friday, October 26th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.About Jason and JaclynJason Talley graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the New York Academy of Art in the spring of 2008. Originally from Washington, DC, Jason graduated with honors and awards from the prestigious Corcoran College of Art. While at the Academy Jason was awarded two of the schools highest honors, including the Stratreal Foundation Grant, a scholarship program where Jason mentored New York City Public School children.Since graduation Jason's work has been included in gallery shows throughout New York City, including Island Weiss, Dean Projects, Lyons Weir, KGB, and Sloan Fine Art. A full time painter, Jason works part time in the studio of Yigal Ozeri. Days off, nights, and weekends he works in his own studio alongside his wife Jaclyn Brown Talley. Jason and Jaclyn met while studying at the Academy. They are at the heart of art community in Bushwick, just as they were while at the Academy.

Jason and Jaclyn were recently preparing for a short trip to visit her family in Canada. The night before their scheduled departure Jason was not feeling well and went to Bellevue Hospital - he has not been home since. Jason was diagnosed with AML Leukemia and has started chemotherapy, a treatment that will last months. He will eventually need a bone marrow transplant, but with five siblings hopes are high that one will be a match. Without health insurance or substantial savings, there are fears of medical costs as well as the immediate everyday pressures of rent and monthly bills.
