My Second Life in France: Our Shackeau

oo

We arrived yesterday morning in Paris. By the time we got the car, loaded all of our suitcases and filled up the tank for $ 80, we were on our way. This is were we were headed: If you look at a map of France and find Paris, move your finger down to the middle of France. You will find a big city named Clermont-Ferrand. Now this is were it gets tricky. You need a more magnified map. Try to find a place called Sauxillanges. Good. You are almost there. From there, a few miles, the road curves and winds itself around steep hills until you get to our little hamlet.

The sun is shining, the neighbors all welcomed us by telling by giving us big affectionate kisses on our cheeks, and we have arrived home.
Today clean-up starts. We are declaring war on spiders...
Pictures are of our little farm house. Or as my husband likes to say, our "Shackeau." More tomorrow.

Your pictures of the views are just breathtaking! The house is really charming!! What is the population of the town? Are there still active farms? (In all your battles with arachnids, please do not forget to remind my patient to wear his elastics).

Yes, there are many active farms. Most people work two jobs. They drive into the bigger towns very early in the morning, and in the afternoon they work on the farms. It is harvest time and everybody is busy trying to get the hay in before it starts raining on Monday.
Population of Pissis is exactly 6-8 permanent residents and about 10 vacation house owners.
I will go up right now and remind your patient to put his elastics in.
And yes, there are some ugly spiders here. Eeek

It was actually Katia who wrote the above comment. My husband must have signed in before me.

The sun is shining today. It was rainy just yesterday morning and I was already alarmed. You see oece it starts raining here, it could rain for days. But by mid-day, the sun came out. Which prompted mmy optimistic husband to say that I had little faith...
