During my five week absence, there has been quite a bit of media attention given to Carroll Gardens. The folks at C.O.R.D and the Carroll Garden Neighborhood Association have kept the pressure up. Rezoning, landmarking or a moratorium on any new buildings: everything is an option, except not doing anything at all to protect the neighborhood from reckless development. I am pretty proud of our little corner of Brooklyn. Though we may not all agree on how to best save the unique character of our neighborhood, we all seem to be united on saving our brownstones and on forcing any new construction to conform contextually in style and in height. That is a powerful message. I hope it is one that our local politicians have heard loudly and clearly. But of that I am not convinced yet. You can be sure that I will be blogging about all and everything this fall relating to the Mega projects planned for our little community and its surrounding.
