Empty Shelves At Rite-Aid On Smith
I stopped by the Rite-Aid on Smith Street over the week-end and was a bit puzzled by all the empty shelves in the store. It sure did not look as though they were moving things around, the shelves were just bare. I am sure that the neighborhood hoped that the store formerly know as Eckerd would improve after becoming a Rite-Aid. I for one have not seen much improvement.

Compared to the dumpy RiteAid at Smith and Warren --the one down by
Carroll St. is great.
They will probably close that one and keep the Rite Aid further north on Smith. In Park Slope, the former Eckerd at 9th St switched over very briefly to Rite Aid but then closed because there was already a Rite Aid on the next block.
We have been overwhelmed by drugstores lately. This one in particular has been badly run from the start.
I would not be upset if it closes down. But then, one never knows what will replace it. I would prefer Rite-Aid to a fast food joint any day.
