Fresh Market's Fall Specials

Brussel Sprouts On Stalk

Flowers and cabbages, white and purple

What did you need this week from the market? Flowers for your boxes? Cabbages for your garden beds? Or Brussel sprouts on their stalks? Choux de Bruxelles in French. Doesn't that sound more delicious?

Choux de Bruxelles is not more delicious. Brussel Sprouts in English is more American and more delicious!

I am sorry you don't share my opinion.

let me add the german translation 'Rosenkohl' (rose cabbage) to the polyglot mix of my most hated vegetable as a child: overcooked, a bit bitter. Not exactly sweet childhood memories. Don't you remember sis? Pretty sounding in German, as well. Still avoid eating it.

Hallo Tania,

Yes, that is indeed a wonderful name.
And they do look a bit like rose buds, except green.
I am not sure I hate them, but I sure don't seek them out.

Hab Sie deswegen auch nicht gekauft, nur ein Foto gemacht. Ich esse lieber Salat und "Blumen"kohl.
