340 Court Street Clarett Neighbors Getting Organized!

oo

Neighbors of the Clarett site at 340 Court Street have gotten organized and are ready to fight in order to make sure that the building project does not damage their homes and ruin their quality of life. They have formed the Union-Sackett Block Association and have started a blog. Their goal is to " preserve the integrity of Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn." Here is a statement from their site:

Carroll Gardens is one of the last charming neighborhoods in New York Metro Area. You walk down tree-lined streets, pass by beautiful brownstones with gorgeous gardens, and meet many great people and families sitting on their stoops enjoying the fresh clean air of small town living.
Our neighborhood has been threatened by big time developers who want to develop without regards to the delicate nature of our existence in a community we call HOME. What are we going to do about this? We must fight together as one to save our neighborhood.

The voice of our community is strong. Ask yourself…can our infrastructure handle big city development?
The answer is obviously....NO!

The Association will hold a meeting this evening, Wednesday the 19th at 6:30 PM at the Carroll Gardens Library in the downstairs meeting room.

The Union-Sackett Association is the third Carroll Gardens neighborhood organization demanding some sanity and relief from out-of-context development, the Carroll Gardens Neighborhood Association and C.O.R.D. being the other two.
There definitely is strength in numbers...

A great neighhorhood for sure. No doubt.
But to describe as smalltown and clean air makes me think they are on drugs. People, this is NYC and you are very close to center of it.
