In Former Times: Classy Police Digs In Carroll Gardens

oo
First Documented 76th Police Precinct Station House at Rapelye Street and Hamilton Avenue.
It was razed to make way for the B.Q. E.

The second home for the 76th Precinct was an old school building at 181 Union Street.
The Precinct moved there in 1946.

In 1970, it moved into a brand new home next door to 191 Union Street.

The sad box building that houses the 76th Precinct on Union Street between Hicks and Henry is a sorry replacement for the two beautiful structures that were once its home.
Bounced around from Rapelye Street to an old stylish schoolhouse on Union,
to this ...
It may be a more functional building than its predecessors, but it sure is ugly compared to those former, classier digs.
