Hey, Sanitation? How about a ticket for Clarett?

oo

Now, the Sanitation department is rather quick sometimes in writing tickets when residents put out their garbage before 5 PM in Brownstone neighborhoods. But how about giving a ticket to Clarett, the development corporation which has recently purchase the 340 Court Street Site? I realize that they are weeks if not days away from tearing this old place down to build something new, but in the meantime, do Carroll Gardens residents really have to look at this garbage in front of the building?
Now, if I had so much garbage in front of my house, I would get a ticket for sure.
So how about it, Sanitation? Why not swing over to 340 and give them a nice little fine. Fair is fair, no?

Where have you been? It's always been a garbage strewn mess even when it housed the nursing and radiology programs of which I am a graduate.

Do you really think so?
I have been in the neighborhood for a loooong time and I have never, ever seen it that bad!

Who do you think left the garbage fellow neighbors?

As an owner, one is responsible for keeping one's property clean, regardless of who throws the litter around.
I have picked up other people's trash for years on my sidewalk.
The rules aren't different for Clarett

I was thinking the same thing the other day, what a mess!

Maybe a call to 311 :)
(or another one...)

Well, yes. There were a number of times where I and my fellow students would be standing around outside as garbage swirled around our ankles when neighbors such as yourself would pass by a grouse about the mess (some seeming to implicate us) I recall one bold older gent asked me who was in charge. I pointed the way to the Deans office and he stomped right in to register a complaint.

Continuum really neglected that place, inside and out.

A Clarett Group rep posted over at the Union-Sackett Block Assn blog. We made reference to this post, which he says he viewed. He says he has ordered his contractor to clean up the trash.
Let's hope it comes to pass - thanks for your post!
