What to do with a fig tree and a statue of Jesus
during the winter in Carroll Gardens?
Well, you wrap them. Tightly. In plastic. Several times.

The fig tree must be wrapped, otherwise it'll die. I prune and wrap my 2 fig trees every November and they are very fruitful by late summer. Wonderful fresh figs to enjoy! Yum! About Jesus... I guess the owner is concerned about the paint coming off - truthfully, Jesus can live in peace in our hearts, regardless of climate changes! No need for wrapping him there...
I bet this home owner also has plastic wrapped furniture too!!
We used to have a fig tree in our back yard, too. We wrapped it every winter for years, but then we got lazy and left it uncovered. The tree died the year we had the blizzard in 1996.
I felt really bad. It was a huge tree and it produced incredible quantities of figs that my children used to sell in little baskets on the stoop to make some pocket money.
Now I have a Crèpe Myrtle standing in its place.
I love the picture because it screams "Carroll Gardens" to me.
