360 Smith Gets Its Own Web Site

Not a bad move on the part of Bill Stein, developer of 360 Smith Street. He just launched a web site for his "Oliver House Condos" on which he can keep Carroll Gardeners abreast of the specifics about the building as well as the construction schedule. It will also be possible to email comments. Too bad those comments will not be visible to the public which would be really entertaining.

Only two renderings can be found on the site and those have been well chosen to not show the true 70 foot height and impact of the building in relation to the street scape. The most controversial part of the building, the glass and metal "promontory" at the corner of Smith Street and Second Place, is nowhere to be seen.

I am still hoping that Mr. Stein does the right thing and reconsiders the design of "Oliver House." He has stated that he wants to build something that he is proud of. Wouldn't it also make sense for him to construct something that the neighborhood is proud of as well?
