Something new is coming to Smith Street and it is not a restaurant. Far from it! A non- profit is taking over the space at 211 Smith Street, the former home of Jikishankan Aikido Dojo.
What a wonderful surprise. Starting Artists, Inc, "is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization which will benefit under-served teenagers here in Brooklyn through hands-on training in the arts and entrepreneurship."
According to the flier in the window, S.A. will offer programs in graphic design, photography, media arts, business classes for teens as well as adult classes in the evening.
I don't know about you, but I am pretty excited about this. Smith Street can use some variety.
