It's My (Carroll) Park Day 2008
"It's My Park Day" brought out the most dedicated gardeners from the neighborhood. The volunteers spent a good part of Saturday weeding and planting annuals. The busiest helpers were the littlest Carroll Gardeners who happily dug in the dirt with Kathleen, Carroll Park's Recreational Coordinator, who organized her crew of gardening munchkins and planted marigolds. Throughout the summer, the children will be in charge of watering the plants. And if you saw a dirt-covered woman in the border along Smith Street, right in front of the park house, well, that was none other than Ms. Pardon Me For Asking. Last year, I took charge of that strip and have been planting all kinds of shade plants under the big plane trees. It is really starting to look pretty nice in I may say so myself. If you happen to walk by, take a look and let me know what you think!
And if you see someone gardening around Carroll Park, chances are that the person is a volunteer. The Committee To Improve Carroll Park is fortunate to have a wonderful group of neighborhoods who give some love back to their community by making the park more beautiful for everyone. If you are interested in helping, please contact the Committee by emailing : friendsofcarrollpark at yahoo dot com.
