CRAYON-A-THON

A Marathon Coloring Weekend for All Ages

FRIENDS, ARTISTS AND SCRIBBLERS. . .
LEND US YOUR HANDS!

Whatever else you do to celebrate Valentine’s Day, come on down and share your
love! On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 13, 14 and 15, ArtsCetera’s well-
loved Cobble Hill studio will be transformed into a giant paper-draped art environment for it’s first CRAYON-A-THON, a marathon coloring weekend to fund the company’s new ABC Program – ArtsCetera Beginnings for all Children, which brings music and arts programming to underserved children in Brooklyn. The company first arts partnership, with Lutheran Family Health Centers in Boerum Hill and Sunset Park, began in October and has been a rousing success.

The CRAYON-A-THON was conceived by ArtsCetera director Nanette De Cillis not only to raise funds, but to also create a true community event supporting the vision of arts for all children. It will also be a model of creative recycling.

De Cillis says, “Everyone loves to color, and every child loves the thrill of new crayons. The Crayon-A-Thon is B.Y.O.C. Bring Your Old Crayons. We’re going to save the crayons we use – and we welcome donations of crayons for the marathon – and they will be melted down and recycled into new crayons to be distributed to children who can love them down to nubs again. It’s a great way to do something collectively that is simple, fun and positive. It’s also a gesture towards developing the ABC Program to reach many, many more kids at a time when budget cuts are killing early arts education for our most vulnerable families.”

The Crayon-A-Thon will consist of 25 one-hour-long coloring time slots, including adult coloring, late night I-Pod silent hours, and lots of family-friendly hours. Participants are encouraged to pre-register, but tickets are available at the door. Suggested donations range from $20 for a single, $45 for a family of three, to $75 per person for a semi- private coloring hour. More if/less if, and a silent auction.

Forget bad luck! The Crayon-A-Thon kicks off on:

Friday,
February 13th
from 4 to 7 pm,

with a Coloring Open House, suggestion donation of $25. Refreshments,
music, fun and surprises!
