Hey, Neighbor! Pardon Me For Asking, But...

oo
Pardon Me for asking

It's Friday! That means its time for the question of the week. I promise that it will be the last one about food for a while. So far, I asked you what restaurant you would miss most if you ever had to move away from Carroll Gardens. Then, I inquired about your favorite neighborhood bakery, the best mozzarella in the hood and last week, we discussed the ultimate cookie to be found in Carroll Gardens.

So, this (still) being an Italian neighborhood, I just have to ask you:

Who Makes The Best Pizza in Carroll Gardens?

Lets hear it. This should be a fun discussion!

I didn't move but my favorite pizza shop did...

... Nino's on Henry and Union. It's Francesco's now, but I grew up on Nino's slices (they catered my engagement party as well as many other family functions).

With Nino's gone I've been in search of a new favorite spot so I'll keep an eye on this thread...

Well, Sam's is classic, and Lucali's is great also, but I'd have to say, authentic ambiance, value, and history all factored in, House of Pizza wins.

I also think that people undervalue Giardini, which is good pizza, for a decent price, and close to the train. Not the best, but still better than Sal's or Vinny's.

I cannot pick just one,so here are my choices:
Lucali's for whole pies.
Sam's for whole pies
and
House of Pizza for slices

I'm partial to Sal's. The pies there, by and large, are perfection.

Even though Nino's is gone, Francescos makes really good pizza, with great veggie toppings. Still the best in the neighborhood.

I agree the best is Sam's and Lucali's for whole pies and House of Pizza & Calzone for a slice of the Nonna/Grandma (delicious!).

I still miss Cafe Leonardo's, which really had the most authentic Neopolitano in the'hood - thin, crispy crust, the right balance of ingredients, fresh mushrooms, tasty pepperoni....

My favorite pizzeria in NYC at the moment is Roberta's (wood-burning oven) in Bushwick. If you're ever in Midwood, Di Fara's really is worth the wait. And, Denino's in Staten Island ("In crust we trust") is awesome a great for families.

Zaytoons makes the best pizza! Thin crust, excellent toppings, especially the lahamborjin (sp?)(spicy ground lamb) and the sun-dried tomatoes.
