The 76th Police Precinct is getting with the times. In recent weeks, I have be getting emails from them about all kinds of neighborhood issues, such as building collapses, safety reminders and monthly meeting reminders. Cool.

Just in case you are not on their list, here is some info about their upcoming community meeting. So if you have a safety concern, want to make your precinct aware of a problem or simply compliment them on a job well done, you may want to attend. From the 76th:

76th Precinct Community Council meets on the first Tuesday evening of every month except July and August. Our next meeting is on Tuesday September 1st at 7:30 p.m. at the 76th Precinct Station House located at 191 Union Street, between Hicks and Henry Streets. The meeting is open to everyone and we hope to see many of you there.

If you are interested, here is the link to the neighborhood crime statistics. Looks good, folks! The numbers confirm that we do live in one of New York City's safest neighborhoods.

it surely sounds nice! if you've ever had to deal with the cops, you would know that they always try to minimize a situation to keep stats down.

This meeting is worthwhile especially if you have had trouble in the neighborhood with late night noisy bars, inattentive desk staff at 76 pct or just looking to see the higher ups in community. They have been helpful for me with one noise complaint. You can meet the captain and speak privately after if you want to address an issue.
