I bet there are many musicians here in the area who will be interested to know that a new recording studio opened recently in the Gowanus area. Just yesterday, I received an email from owner Nadim Issa, who invites all local artists to check out his new facility.
I hope you will take him up on his offer. We should all support locally owned businesses, especially in the Gowanus area.
Below is more info on Nadim's studio.
NEW AFFORDABLE RECORDING STUDIO OPENS IN BROOKLYN
LARGE STUDIO SPACE AT A LOW PRICE POINT
Owner and house engineer Nadim Issa opened Let 'Em In Music with the goal of giving musicians and producers the opportunity to hunker down and experiment in a comfortable setting; to forget the clock; to give their music the time it deserves, something rarely possible in New York’s pricey studios. With rates as low as $250 for a full twelve-hour day, Let 'Em In offers a unique combination of affordability and great acoustics with its ample space. The studio is comprised of three rooms: a large 450 square-foot live room with 13’ ceilings, a comfortable 22’x15’ control room, and a lounge.Let 'Em In is equipped with an exceptional array of recording gear and the very best in digital recording technology. As Nadim states, "Digital technology has come a long way - we are at a point where it really sounds fantastic and it's just supremely convenient. With the right tools and know-how, digital is just as good as analog and its affordability can be passed down to the client."Let 'Em In Music recently partnered with New York-based music site EAR FARM to release "Do you EAR what I EAR?", a charity holiday album for the Association to Benefit Children (ABC). Nadim offered his services at no charge and ten of the 16 artists who participated in the project recorded at the studio. The charitable endeavor has received press coverage from Pitchfork and The L Magazine, among others. The album is currently available on the EAR FARM web site with a suggested donation of $5 (all proceeds go to ABC).Recent clients at the studio include Julie Doiron (Jagjaguwar Records), Sharon Van Etten (Language of Stone), Goes Cube (The End), and Dinosaur Feathers. Sean Sullivan of the band Sean Bones (Frenchkiss Records) was particularly impressed with the space: "There's a nice homey feel about the studio. It's well-furnished and decorated, unlike a lot of the studios in the city which can feel sterile. We were particularly pleased with the drum sound we achieved - the live room's acoustics are excellent."Let 'Em In (www.letemin.com) is located at 540 President Street in a renovated commercial loft building surrounded by a mix of brownstones and industrial buildings. It is a stone's throw from Park Slope's Fifth Avenue. Subway lines in the immediate vicinity include the F, G, R, and M.
