A Moment Back In Time: When The "Smith Regency" Was H.S. Chardavoyne's Dairy Store

A look back into Carroll Gardens history with this great old photo of number 397 Smith Street in the 1920's, when the building housed H.S. Chardavoyne's dairy store.
Today, the same building has been transformed into residential apartments and has been renamed "The Smith Regency."

Though the structure
has lost some detail at the roof line, it is still very recognizable.

Also notice number 399 Smith Street in the old photo. There once was a deli on the ground floor. Today, the storefront is no longer there. It has been turned into an apartment.

And did you spy the laundry hanging on the clothesline over the garage on the left?

Oh, how much I love these old photos.

I love the words milk and cream - sounds so healthy and soothing. Wish we still had diary stores like tat.
