Make no mistake, my friends, Carroll Gardens is still an Italian neighborhood and national pride is sometimes very much on display, especially during the FIFA World Cup, which will start tomorrow in South Africa.
Just take a look at the giant Italian flags which were just hung in anticipation on Sal's Pizzeria on Court Street, at the corner of DeGraw.
If you live in Carroll Gardens and aren't Italian like me, it's all right to root for your own country's team, but you may want to cheer on Team Italia as well.
Of course, if the finale is played between your national team and the Italian team, you have a bit of a problem.
I would love to know, dear Reader, if you will follow the games, what team you will support and where you will be watching.

If you don't cheer for Italia, I hear your kneecaps might not fare too well.
