I just got word that "Film Biz Prop Shop," a not-for-profit business that recycles props and set decorations donated by motion picture, TV or commercial production companies is moving to 540 President Street between 3rd and 4th Avenue. The Prop Shop diverts most of the items to other non-profit organizations. The rest is sold to the public or rented to other people in the film industry.

This is the perfect place to "buy or rent antique, vintage, modern furntiture, lighting, rugs, linens, junktiques, oddities, mirrors, art, frames, jewelry, clothing, and more including many “insider only” items like fake barbed wire, breakaway glass and rubber broken beer bottles perfect for a mock bar fight!"
The Film Biz Prop Shop, currently located in Long Island City is hoping to open at its new Gowanus location by December 1st.

Yes, I heard this. The place is great for getting cast-offs with style and they also donate to kids with Cancer who want a new bedroom look. Keeps junk out of our landfills.
