Have you noticed that the days are getting just a wee bit longer?
The light in the late afternoon has been absolutely beautiful.
This was Smith Street yesterday shortly before sunset.

I've always thought that Smith Street in that light bears a resemblance to paintings by Canaletto in the 1720s. Like the one's here (click on the second painting down, for example):

You are right. Though Smith Street certainly isn't anywhere as pretty as Venice, the light does bear a definite resemblance to those paintings.
