A Little Late Night Excitement On Third Place

oo
Reader Mike sent me the photos above of a car accident that happened on 3rd Place between Court and Clinton Streets last night. He writes:
A little excitement on 3rd Place tonight [Sunday]. About 11:30pm we heard a large crash outside our windows and looked down to find a car turned on it's side. 2 passengers and a dog came out in remarkably fine fashion, and the surrounding cars took minimal damage. Major cleanup action taking place with a very small work area for the NYPD and FDNY.
Good thing no one was hurt, but I wonder how the driver managed to flip his car to its side like this, except by going too fast.

Is that a New Jersey license plate?

Might have something to do with that enormous pothole on that block (mixed with criminal speeding).

I believe it is. I restrained from commenting...

I could only guess it was because they jerked the car quickly at high speed. SUV's aren't the best cars to be making sharp turns at high speeds. Looking at how narrow that street is that's quite an accomplishment.

The car hadn't reached the pothole portion of the street yet. It happened mid block, not near a corner turn and two additional cars were hit as well.

Lucky no innocent bystanders were hurt. The only way to flip that SUV was excessive speed. The driver is a jackass. I hope they arrested him.

I heard two loud bangs. Happened right across the street from me. With those loud bangs, it sounded as if speed played a roll in this.
