As in years past, The Court Street Festival, held this past Sunday, was a lot of fun and drew huge crowds.  The weather could not have been better.  Under blue skies, the community came out to eat, drink, play and browse. The funnest part of the event is always bumping into old acquaintances and meeting new neighborhood residents.
Only regret I have is that this, as many other street fairs around the city, lacks variety.  There are simply too many vendors selling the same food or merchandise.  How many fruit smoothies and Italian Sausages or candied apples can one eat?
Where you there?

I am a local crafter who would have applied, had I known about it in advance, but after taking a walk through yesterday, I was so glad I didn't waste my money. It was like being at Coney Island. Block after block of the same thing, sausages, smoothies, and cheap mass-produced "crafts". Almost no real crafters were selling, and I can see why. This "festival" is a blemish on an otherwise classy neighborhood. Court Street can do so much better than this.

I love the Court St Fair! It's not an art fair, it's like a county fair for the street (just like every other street fair in the city), so I'm not sure why you are so surprised and grumpy about it. Glad you saved your money, too. Some of the businesses on Court St represent with booths, which is nice, and it's not as chaotic as the Atlantic Antic is.

And who doesn't love being at Coney Island?

Loud, crying children, sponge bob. Cold. Same old same old. But, all you nay sayers, this is not the Smorgasburg or Brookkyn flea. It's just a common Street Fair. Plain and simple. Not curated, just average, usual stuff. What do you expect? It's supposed to be like Coney. Not Dean and Deluca. Smith street fair is a tad bit more eccentric. ;)

Did you get a new camera? Your photos of the fair are so crisp and clear. They make me sorry I missed it.

No, it's still my little Canon G12, which I carry with me all the time. I think it was just a beautiful crisp day.

I like that it's an old school street festival. Not everything needs to be artisanal and crafty... Head to the Brooklyn Flea and Smorgasbord for that.
