Gowanus Art + Production will be screening "Finding Vivian Maier" at the Green Building in Gowanus on March 26th. This fascination award-winning documentary tries to piece together the life of a nanny whose extraordinary photographs came to light posthumously. Her amazing street photography was discovered in 2007, when filmmaker, historian John Maloof purchased boxes of her negatives at an auction held in Chicago.
Since this amazing discovery, Maloof has tirelessly archived and catalogued Maier's body of work to preserve it for future generation.
"Finding Vivian Maier" traces Maloof's quests to retrace Maier's history and his mission to secure her rightful place as one of the most accomplished street photographers.
