If you have been waiting for an affordable Mexican food option on Smith Street, I have good news for you.
The owners of Layla Jones on Court Street and of Fatty Daddy Taco in Parks Slope just opened a second taco outpost at 152 Smith Street last week. Besides tacos, the small eatery offers burritos, tortas , quesadillas and salads with lots of options and sides. Fatty Daddy even has a kids menu. The motto here is "all fresh, all the time."
From the menu:
Dave and Lourdes have lived in Brooklyn for over 20 years. Shortly after the birth of their daughter they decided to open their first restaurant LaylaJones, which has been a neighborhood fixture in Cobble Hill since 2006. Prior to that, they had worked together serving Mexican Food to the folks in Manhattan. So, in 2013, they decided to open Fatty Daddy Taco in Park Slope. After a great first year there, they are excited to bring Fatty Daddy Taco home to Cobble Hill. Make sure to say hi to their kids Layla and Jones (who don't really think their daddy is fat!).
One could argue that the new taco eatery is actually located in Boerum Hill, not Cobble Hill, but there is no doubt that an affordable Mexican joint on Smith Street is a welcome addition.
Previously, 152 Smith Street was home to Sample wine bar, which closed in early 2015.

Had some tacos here the other day. Hands down the best I've had in quite a while. Definitely the best I've had in NYC.
Thanks for letting us know. Looking forward to trying them.
Excellent tacos!!!!!
They do not have a hard taco my favorite kind.
Healthy options at the right price.
